The 2014 Great Northern Freediving competition
Organised by Steve Millard of the Apneists UK group (freedivers.co.uk) there was this year 51 Athletes competing, 15 countries represented, 3 National records set and once again an amazing atmosphere.
The competition is made up of a combined point score over three disciplines. Dynamic no fins day one, Static and Dynamic with fins day two. We had some really terrific performances. A really exciting competition overall
The three National records were UK Rebecca Coales, swimming 145m in the dynamic no fins category, Hungarian Mike Benke, 142 dynamic no fins. Both these athletes are training with Steve Millard of freedivers.co.uk and Rebecca helps run a club in Bristol. Last but not least was Romanian Constantin Timosca doing a 146m dynamic with fins swim. All good solid white card dives with lots left for improvement in the next few months.

Some good newbies entering the scene, and many athletes reporting personal bests overall a fabulous weekend in Liverpool. Time for a World Championship bid for the AIDA World Pool championships in the near future.
